Our position
We write about slots, and we take the obvious consequence of that seriously. Nothing on this site presents gambling as income, as a way out of debt, or as a skill you can sharpen. A 96.50% return means the game keeps 3.5p of every pound wagered over the long run — that is the price of playing, and no strategy on any website changes it.
We only feature casinos licensed by the UK Gambling Commission, because a UKGC licence is what obliges an operator to give you deposit limits, loss limits, reality checks, time-outs and self-exclusion as standard.
Seven habits that keep it fun
- Decide the budget before you open the game, not once you are down. Treat it the way you would treat the cost of a night out — money already spent.
- Set a deposit limit in your account on day one. Lowering one takes effect immediately; raising it takes 24 hours by law. That delay is the entire point.
- Set a time limit too. Slots have no natural stopping point, so it has to come from a clock rather than from the game.
- Never chase a loss. Raising the stake after a dry spell changes what a win would be worth; it does nothing to make one arrive sooner.
- Do not play tired, stressed, or after drinking. Every one of those makes the limit you set earlier feel negotiable.
- Keep it separate from money you need. Rent, bills and food are not a bankroll.
- Take the break the reality check offers. If you dismiss it without reading it, that is worth noticing in itself.
Warning signs
Harm rarely announces itself. It usually shows up as small changes in behaviour first — these are the common ones:
- Playing longer or spending more than you meant to, repeatedly.
- Increasing stakes to win back what you have lost.
- Being vague or untruthful with family about how much you play.
- Borrowing, selling things, or using a credit facility to fund play.
- Feeling restless, irritable or low when you are not playing.
- Gambling getting in the way of work, sleep or people you care about.
- Thinking about the next session while doing something else.
If more than one of those sounds familiar, the services below are free, confidential, and used to exactly this conversation. Contacting them early is far easier than contacting them late.
